- Applicants must provide proof of liability, workman's compensation and unemployment insurance.
- Out of state contractors must post a bond with the Department of Employment Security before commencing work on any contract over $5,000. Chicago and other municipalities may have licensing requirements.
- A performance and liability bond may be required of each bidder of a public works contract involving an amount in excess of $10,000 in a city with a population of 500,000. A payment/performance bond equal to the value of the contract is required if it is estimated at $25,000 or more.
